Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment probably most well known for their development on Stargate Worlds also gives house to two other development companies, Superstition studios and Handcranked games.
Superstition studios popped up in the news last month a bit with the announcement of Shane Hensley taking up the position of studio head who worked on City of Heroes and City of Villains.
The superstition studios site doesn’t give much away either, except the title which refers to .net rather than .com. When taking a look at what the .net variant has to show though all what happens is being reffered to a login address which can’t be found making it nothing interesting either.
All what we do know is what is written on the superstition page on CME:
- Genre-themed MMORPG games with a built in fan base
- Intellectual properties with a presence in multiple media outlets
- Innovations that allow gamers to have a more permanent impact on their in-game environments and societies
The other studio is even more vague, handcranked games has practically no info released. The only info there is what can be found on the handcranked page on CME:
The HandCranked Games (HCG) Studio is developing multiple unannounced titles, both internally and with external partners. This studio will focus on games that bring social networking innovations to their respective genres.
- Introduce new ways for users to migrate between games online, enhancing the way they experience the internet
- Explore new business models such as those seen in Asian markets to create new revenue streams while providing more choices for consumers
- Extend gaming experiences beyond the core PC or console gameplay to appeal to the lifestyles of both casual online consumers and hardcore gamers
By the sound of it handcranked games will be the studio taking on the television production style which Joseph Ybarra has been talking about. The final details on this all will probably still be quite some time away from us, by the sound of it though it might become something along the lines of gpotato or ncsoft.
Their main project Stargate Worlds has been suffering from quite an information drought which is about to end soon, they will indeed not be attending the E3 but they will be able to be found at both Comic-Con and GC Leipzig according to Katie Postma, lead community manager.
