Once more a brilliant game which has its origin lying within the eastern parts of this world, Dragonica, bringing together the bests of 2D side-scrollers with a 3D flavor.
It’s no news when I say hundreds of MMO’s are being developed at pretty much any moment in time, obviously far from all of these will become a major hit yet still things can be learned from them. Especially the eastern market is extremely innovative with MMO’s, and this is to be seen in with what they come.
The fear which lies within the western market currently just seams to be absent in Asian games. Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has recently indicated to let their innovation go on the loose as well, but Asian game devs have been doing this for many years already even though there are definitely those as well which try to focus on western gamers as Gravity did with Ragnarok Online 2 (currently still in beta).
A great example of this is side-scrolling MMO’s, now who would want to play that?! In reality though there are some quite popular side-scrolling MMO’s out there like for example Maple Story and as we speak more are coming towards the western market.
NCSoft jumped in on the side-scroller craze and gave it an original twist for an MMO with a 3D side-scroller under development by Barunson Interactive and brought to the western market by IAHGames.
Dragonica is currently in beta testing with a release not officially set yet, I believe the game is intended to become free to play with an item shop. Combined with the relatively low system specs of just a 1ghz cpu and 512mb of mem as minimum along with a gfx card dating back practically 8 years it’s going to be something just about anybody can jump into to have some fun.
