Austria vs Germany and Poland vs Croatia

Yesterdays matches offered some great surprises, who would ever have thought to see them end like that! Will tonight have something similar to offer for us, let’s hope so as it’s the excitement many of the early matches have been missing.

Now who would ever have thought to see Switzerland win from Portugal with 2-0, I know I didn’t! They really surprised me with that, Portugal surprised me just as much as I would never have expected them to lose from Switzerland.

But the match between Turkey and Czech was even more surprising, starting of with the Czechs scoring there was still hope left for Turkey. In the second half Turkey began to strike back hard but then it came, the second goal from the Czechs. The match appeared to have been over and decided at this point, but that would appear to be far from true.

By some sick twist of fait Turkey didn’t score just once, no not even just two times but three times after that. The latter two goals within just 2 minutes of one each other. The Czechs appeared to be doomed at this point, but what happens next is something which nobody would probably ever have foreseen.

The Turkish goalkeep gets a red card for pushing down a Czech player out of anger! With a field player on the goal and around 3 minutes till the game would be over the excitement was tremendous. Unfortunately the Czechs didn’t manage to score within that time, letting Turkey go on to the quarter finals.

Tonight Austria, Germany, Poland and Croatia will be offered the opportunity to entertain us like that. Although Croatia is certain of a spot in the quarter finals all 3 other teams have their fait depending on tonights match, although I expect Germany to win from Austria and therefore go towards the quarter finals we might just as well again be completely surprised by the results.
