According to the findings of a study in how time is spent by SPOT, RAB and PBE that’s how much the average Dutch person spend surfing the internet.
What? Just 80 minutes? I’m sure many of those who surf the net will have similar feelings but that’s what the results from SPOT say. Myself I’m probably on 5 times as much as the average, so I make up for those 4 others who do not spend a single moment on the internet.
Funny enough it was even worse in 2006 apparently where the average time spent on the internet was just a measily 43 minutes. That’s like not even enough time to check my mail and go through my feed reader!
The research is done by companies mainly interested in where to advertise and such, so of course internet wasn’t their only interest. Television has always been the primary focus of them and still it appears to be the primary focus of the average person as well with an average of 138 minutes a day watched.
I think in the old days I was way over average there as well but now I must say I hardly watch television anymore, currently of course to watch the Euro Championships but that’s pretty much it. So much more can be seen streaming on the internet these days a lot sooner than it hits the channels here so there’s just no real reason to watch television anymore.
Another interesting find is how much time is spent on video gaming, with an average of just 13 minutes a day I suppose we can say electronical gaming is still far from wide spread, even after all those years. It didn’t state whether this was just about actual video gaming or also included online arcade and braintrainer games, but usually in studies like these the latter is included.
