Upcoming city builder / simulation game Cities XL has recently released their first official trailer showing off some mighty looking results. Monte Cristo probably most well known for their previous sim game City Life is definitely appearing to be setting new standards here.
With several intriguing new features Cities XL is setting itself apart from previous city building games. The fact that it’s fully 3D isn’t something really new, but the quality of it as can be seen within the video has been greatly increased compared to previous games.
More note worthy though still is the fact that the grid style city building which we once have is being kicked out of the door, roads can be curved, empty spaces between buildings are being filled up with realistic settings and we have an entire world at hand rather than just a single city or region.
The game is still quite some time from release though, estimated is that it’ll hit the shelves no sooner than 2009. By that time though Cities XL appears to be going to pick off where SC4 left off.
