Several hours of just devoting time into a project and instantly getting to see the results, that’s what we all like to see right? Well so far the work I’ve been doing on the upcoming design is doing exactly that for me!

preview I’ve managed to jump quite ahead of what even I planned myself at first and have a very nice foundation ready at hand to be developed further. A nice teaser was at hand I thought so I made a quick mockup which shows something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Heck, it’s like getting married, hehe.

Nothing is definite as of yet but as you can see the aim of the upcoming design is completely different from what we have now. A lot more whitespace has been added, it makes it all look just so more stylized and clean. But some of the old touches definitely haven’t been forgotten, the header which can be seen above the entry has been reused from the old design and processed to fit the overall layout.

But wait, there’s more! The navigational bar got quite an overhaul as well, no longer aren’t it images but it also gained some completely new terms. As many out there I simply hate the more to come messages so I’m sticking to what I’ll actually be able to fill in right from the start and leave the rest open for the future.

And this all plus more comes completely low resolution friendly, no longer any javascript to adjust the page width in order for it to fit on a 1024×768 resolution but it’ll run right out of the box. Let’s try to limit the sloppy CSS hacks and javascript for a change and instead only use where truly needed.

Plus, no longer will you have to think me for eating about 2mb of your bandwidth after visiting my site but has it been reduced to around 120kb making the loading time noticeably faster. Even on an old-fashioned 56k connection it should load in around 15 seconds! But my aim is of course to have things loaded in about a second for the average visitor.

Unfortunately I can’t give an exact date yet of when I expect to have things rounded up for going live, probably will be a matter of a week or two. As it’s going now though I don’t expect to run into a lot of issues which could push that back much further.

Discussion on this Article

  1. I am already married yet I am still enjoying my life as though I am single..

  2. Your site is by far one of the nicer one’s I have ever seen. It’s quite apparent that you have a talent for designing sites.

  3. Thanks for the comments, I must say though I’m still learning but I do consider it quite a challenge to design sites. Every (re-)design I do I end up learning a lot of new techniques and most important I think myself is that I keep on testing my own limits.

Have your say

Like many others I'm a slave to modern society dominated by mass media, I can be hooked on the latest series for months without missing a single episode or simply having to see a certain movie.

And if you thought music wouldn't be included there, you're dead wrong! Practically non stop I listen to music from various artists, I just can't stand the silence anymore.
