Last Friday I decided to drop back to the store because the second DVI port on my MSI 9600 GT appeared to be faulty, it gave a weird yellow fade on the side of the screen along with a yellow drop shadow on certain elements. Of course it’s quite obvious that that’s not the way it’s supposed to be and as nothing what I could do myself helped the slightest on resolving the issue I returned to the store with it.

As usual it was a bit of a wait again, but eventually as it was my turn the issue was quickly found. A pin within the port apparently was bent, those bloody minuscule things. They did take it back for a while in an attempt to fix it but it didn’t help much, all what changed was that the shadow was no longer yellow but became blue, far from the desired result of course.

After having been there for about an hour they decided to simply exchange the card and give me along a new one, upon opening the box in the car apparently I got the double slot version of the card with the MSI cooler. It appears that once more I had an exchange in my favor, have to love those moments. It keeps the temperature on the card several degrees lower so way to go me!
