Can you recognize yourself in saying these words? It’s something which you can hear commonly these days from people, within our active lives we often come to a conclusion quickly that we wouldn’t have enough time available.
Is it true though that most of us live such active lives that we really wouldn’t have the time left for that afternoon of spending time with your kids or getting back into that hobby which you enjoyed so much while you were young? Or are we just not managing our time too well making us believe we wouldn’t have enough free time.
If we look at a week we’ll find it gives us 168 hours of available time, unfortunately even though some would tend to say “sleep is for the weak” we cannot go without it so 56 hours of our lives get lost on average every week by sleeping 8 hours a day, this still leaves us with 112 hours remaining on the other hand.
Now this is where work and school usually jumps in, an easy “but, but…. I have to work!” isn’t hard to say after all. Do you work 112 hours in a week though? Or in case of you’re a student, do you study for that long? I highly doubt it, the average work week is 40 hours in most countries, slightly less in some even and as a student myself I can easily say that making 40 hours is rare. Perhaps in the week of an exam in my university years I can go slightly over the 40, but anything outside of that and on high school it’s more like 30 hours.
For ease let’s say you are very passionate in your work and stick around a bit longer, making it 42 hours. Even then you’d still have 70 hours of free time remaining within a week. If you’d take this time all together that’s nearly 3 days in a row of available time, now how can you be having no time with so much time still available?
It is easy to make yourself believe you have no time available simply by doing those kind of things in which the time flies by fast but aren’t really necessary, in example sitting in front of the television all night watching series like CSI, Prison Break, Heroes, etcetera.
Also surfing around the net and reading blogs, you know who I’m talking about here, is a great way for time to pass by but can definitely be time consuming on the other hand as well. Some people even manage to spend over 4 hours a day on simply reading blogs already, your 70 hours of free time gets drained here like it’s nothing as you might understand.
So do you really have no time? Or are you just filling in time with things you’ve gotten so accustomed to you are starting to believe you have no time? A great way to figure this out for yourself on how you spend the time of your week is to keep track of your activities in a diary. Take note of when you start with it and when you stop, at the end of the week have a good look at exactly what you have done and how many hours you have stuck into things like watching television.
Chances are high you might find that you actually have a lot more time available than you might have initially thought, simply scrap 4 hours of television a week and you might be able to finish reading that book you still had lying on the desk or spend some time with your kids in case you have those and still recognize them.
Do you still think you haven’t got enough time? Let us hear on what makes your week so busy or how managing your time better has enabled you to do those things you’ve always wanted to do.

Hehe, at least you realize it yourself ;). Some people don’t even see the cause of why they have such little time even if it’s so obvious, like a friend recently which had no time to study but meanwhile was watching all 3 CSI’s, 3 different daily soaps, the dr phil show, the ellen degenerous show, heroes, prison break and a bunch more of shows which all together ads up for like 4 hours a day :P.
Now where oh where could that time for studying have gone.
