Now that summer vacations are most likely over, what did you do? Did you have fun? Pick your favorite vacation photo and share it with us. What makes it special? What’s the story behind it?

Unfortunately the summer holidays are indeed over, they have been for quite  some time as I was already following classes again about 10 days ago. The days of going to classes are a fact again and will be for quite some time as well, so memories to the past holidays is all which remains.

During the summer holidays I had my girlfriend over for the entire period of time, which on itself is already a great way to spend the summer. Since she lives in Sweden herself still we do not get to see each other that often unfortunately, therefore it was great to be able to spend such a long time together.

It all started on the exact day when summer started and I went to pick her up from the airport, it was great being able to see her for real again. Although we planned to go back to Amsterdam during one of the further days in summer it never came to that, so as we stepped on the train towards my place it was an unknown saying goodbye to Amsterdam as well.

About a week after that it was my brother’s graduation from high school which we attended, the class was huge making it quite a long and boring sit. When it was finally over though we went to a local Chinese restaurant with the family, as we all know Chinese food is simply the best around. Now who doesn’t agree with me on that?

Seeing movies is a thing which the two of us quite tend to enjoy as well and although we didn’t see as much in the cinemas this summer as we did in example during the short period of winter we did get to see a couple of movies like Shrek the third and the transformers. Outside of the cinemas we did get to see a lot of movies, I think in total we’ve watched well over a 50 movies throughout the entire summer if we’d count them all together. Possibly even more seeing as to how some days we just watched entire trilogies like lord of the rings or even all 6 of the star wars movies.

Something with which we spent quite a big part of our summer as well has been walking, over 10 kilometers one time even. Although not all days we walked till such an extent but definitely around an hour or 2 at least each day, giving us more activity than at any other moment during the past year.

After I was done with my school along we got more time together and we used that to go out for a day to the zoo in August, yet again another opportunity to walk a lot but it was a nice day. If I recall the weather wasn’t too bad so we spent quite some time walking around, unfortunately the camera we had along was utterly crappy so pictures were just a mess and worthless to even bother about.

About a week after that we went for another day out, this time to a theme park a couple of hours from here. Compared to the zoo this was even a lot more fun, we ended up having a great day in the Efteling. Since the weather started out as not too well the park was as good as empty, giving us the opportunity to just jump in ride after ride, no lines to wait in for hours definitely was what made this day extra good.

Before we knew it though the summer was over and time to say goodbye had came, the only time we went back to Amsterdam during the entire summer and that was to reach the airport again.

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to post along, but I hope this gave an impression of my summer :-).
