Although it isn’t the first time I’m using it, the last time was back when it was still in version 1 and it wasn’t really needed. Now I’d say it’s definitely becoming needed as I have to search through about 700GB of data which has been gathered throughout years and years, the windows search just doesn’t cut it anymore and is simply put way too slow.
Because I do have quite a lot of archived files I installed the “Airbear Software’s IndexZip Compressed File.. (Indexes file names within JAR, RAR, and ZIP compressed files)” plugin along, enabling the GDS to index the rar files as well. I must say though that I’m quite disappointed that it just doesn’t index every single file yet though, or at least give the option to do so. After all I want it to find every possible file on my disk when I search, not just a bunch of preset file types.
