But yet another Blog Talkers, this weeks question is the following:

Why are people obsessed with the weather? And if you watch the Weather Channel, why?

If you ask me, this is quite a weird question, because I don’t know anybody obsessed with the weather channel. I guess amongst the people I know no one is simply mindless enough to watch the weather channel all day long. Even worse though, till about a year back we didn’t even have a full-day weather channel common in the public. Just when digital television came the weather channel was included as well, along with a bunch of other mindless, and mainly American, channels like in example Fox.

All these channels are nicely placed back like in the 700’s or so for channel number, even ranked lower than MTV, so if that is already some sort of indication on their importance we can say losing to MTV and the Hallmark channel pretty much signs the weather channel’s grave.

People simply aren’t bothered too much with weather channels here, the weather is mentioned once along with the news of our own country and that’s all that matters anyways. And asides from that, unless you’re actually planning to do something, who the hell cares. It’s not like you can truly prevent the weather from happening, right?

Of course if you got the resources, there are exceptions. In example if you wouldn’t want the predicted rain to happen over your city you could perform the act of cloud seeding and make the rain drop earlier and in a similar way you could also create rain if you don’t want the predicted period of heat, but these sort of things aren’t an option to the broad public so it doesn’t even serve any point to simply think about it.

Perhaps all that crap about our environment changing and all has something to do with the obsession of the weather by some. Of course especially in the US with Al Gore being on the top of it all now it is a very hot item, but here I must say that although we do get to see some of the US stuff flying over, we simply aren’t impressed. After all, when something like that comes from a country which is responsible for 70% of the junk being pumped into the air anyways even though they have a minority of the industries, who the hell cares what they are trying to tell the world? They should do us all a favor and nuke their own government to make them wake up for that matter.

But let’s not wonder off to much here, would be getting too political otherwise, and as it’s getting later and CSI is on that’s the last I want to be writing about now ;).
