The new site has finally arrived! As you can see the name has changed from DigiRev to Slevi, why you might ask? Simple. I didn’t like the name digirev, it didn’t suit the theme of the blog in the longer run and it just didn’t sound catchy. So why Slevi? First of all, don’t you [...]

The new site has finally arrived! As you can see the name has changed from DigiRev to Slevi, why you might ask? Simple. I didn’t like the name digirev, it didn’t suit the theme of the blog in the longer run and it just didn’t sound catchy. So why Slevi? First of all, don’t you just like the ring to slevi, can say it all day long and it keeps sounding cool. But assides from that it’s also formed up of the first letter of my first name, first 3 of my last name and an i added to it just to make it easier to pronounce.

Why not just take my full name instead you might be wondering, yet again that’s very simple! It’ld become a long, hard to remember and unpronouncable for many name. I wanted something short which would stick with you easily, yet still sound nice and be something of me.

As far as it comes to the blog itself; you can see that that is currently all running nicely. The blog and tag based archive to make browing through older entries are perfectly in place and easy to access. I have decided on using green as a base colour since it looked calm and is not used as frequently as blue or pink. The colour combinations, usage of striping in the tag cloud and even the tag cloud itself all are very web2.0′ish, do I truly care? No, it just looked nice and whether it would fit the name web2.0 or not isn’t that much of a priority. And don’t we all like to think our own work is one step beyond the rest? Making our own work all web3.0 :).

I have made usage of some nice plugins in this new layout as well as you might see; in example sociable and related entries. These can be found on the bottom of each post, allowing the user to easily bookmark the entry to popular bookmark sites and find related entries within Slevi which might be of interest with them.

Post meta data and commenting has also been brought somewhat more to the public, including registration and login box. This to attempt to get some frequent visitors take up an active reader role on Slevi, instead of having them nearly fully blocked out as with the old layout.

Overall I’m quite pleased with the result and the way this blog is growing, I enjoy posting new entries and there’s a nice amount of visitors which have already visited me. Every month till now the amount of unique visitors has been growing and currently we receive over 1500 hits a month.

I hope you’ll enjoy the new DigiRev, or should I say Slevi :).

Have your say

Like many others I'm a slave to modern society dominated by mass media, I can be hooked on the latest series for months without missing a single episode or simply having to see a certain movie.

And if you thought music wouldn't be included there, you're dead wrong! Practically non stop I listen to music from various artists, I just can't stand the silence anymore.
